The vacuum appears in all storylines, but it is only important in the Dust Devil storyline.
In the game, Pajama Sam must use the bag of soil he finds at the Test Room to attract the vacuum into the elevator and only take it to the third floor in the US/second floor in the UK, aka the rooftop to suck up the Tornado that is stopping the Automated Snowflake Inspector from leaving. The vacuum is only of important use in the "Tornado" part of the storyline. Sometimes he can wait in the second floor, where the computer is and Sam can make stairs out of crates by pushing the plus button to add a crate to a stack and pushing the minus button to remove a crate from a stack, wait in the basement, where Velo is sometimes stuck and earthquake cans are sometimes found and Sam has to pick one up to rescue Y-Pipe and not be greedy. Sometimes in the basement, the vacuum will watch in the elevator while Sam rescues Velo, or wait in both floors before or after sucking up the tornado, and sometimes he does not. The only floor where he gets dropped off is the first/ground floor, which is his home.
